Organización Ayudar es Vivir

History

The Association Ayudar es Vivir is a non lucrative institution founded more than 40 years ago created with the purpose of helping the disabled and support the Peruvian Institute of Rehabilitation. During all these years, we have been working in several issues.

The Association refurbished and equipped the Specialized Institute of Rehabilitation, today called National Institute of Rehabilitation “Dra. Adriana Rebaza Flores”, that was handed over to the Ministry of Health for particular situations at that time. Modern equipment and furniture were acquired for this purpose. Later, an Information Technology Center was donated, as well as Laser Ray equipment for therapeutic use; an electromyograph to measure the damage of the muscles together with especial equipment to detect blindness and deafness at an early age; an audiometer and a special oven to manufacture thermoplastic prosthetics and orthotics among many others.

Donations of wheel chairs, earphones and rehabilitation implements to patients attending the institute were made regularly.

We started the Revolving Fund for loans without interests, for the setting up of micro enterprises. Currently, more than 100 micro enterprises have been set up thanks to this program.

We also organize every year the Christmas Party for the little patients in the Institute. About 1 300 kids attend the celebration together with their parents. Every one receives gifts, after having fun participating in different contests and games; enjoying snacks and soft drinks, and delicious sandwiches.

Afterwards, on 23 August 2003, the Association changed its corporate name to Ayudar es Vivir, and became an NGO for development with the purpose of helping the disabled in Peru adopting a business approach to be able to get more help and manage the institution with better performances and indicators. Our plans are in a developing process to be able to meet the needs not only of the disabled in Lima, but also in the provinces. Had it not been for the dedicated work of professionals of different areas, who are our members, our activities at the NGO for development would not have been possible.

NGO for Development Ayudar es Vivir, a private non governmental institution, does not have any political relation with Estate organizations.
