Work Plan 2008

Background

The NGO for development Association Ayudar es Vivir is a non lucrative organization that has been continuously working for more than 40 years now, to help people who suffer from any disabilities and that lack enough economic resources to have an adequate quality of life. We expect that with our help and their own effort, they become active members in the economy of the Peruvian society.

About eight years ago, we created the Revolving Funds Program of Loans, which purpose is to lend the necessary capital to set up micro enterprises in this particular population group that is usually, and absurdly, marginalized. In this relatively short period of time about 100 micro enterprises have been set up, and when the loans are paid back they are used to finance new projects.

In 2000, our Revolving Funds Program got the first place in the international contest “IMSERSO 2000”, in the category “Prize for Labor and Social Integration”, given by the Spanish Government through its Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs. The prize was given in Madrid by Her Royal Highness the Infanta Cristina.

Later on, this program was also awarded in the year 2002 as runner up in the contest Creatividad Empresarial (Business Creativity), organized by Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas (Peruvian University of Applied Science). It is worthwhile mentioning that there is no other similar institution in Peru that helps the disabled.

Besides, every year we organize the Christmas Party for children who suffer from any disabilities. The last party took place in December 2007, and gathered more than 1 300 kids who attended together with their parents to enjoy the children’s shows, inflatable games, contests, prizes, gifts and snacks. We always try that the children have a wonderful time at the party.

Introduction

In the Work Plan 2008, the NGO for development Association Ayudar es Vivir identifies as its prime goal the problematic of people suffering from any disabilities and who lack the necessary economic resources to rehabilitate and integrate into the society. We refer to it as our concrete objective, without neglecting to establish the indispensable resources to thwart it; present a strategy and point out the necessary resources to achieve our goals, in order to reach a successful result.

Let us describe the principal characteristics of the Work Plan 2008 of the NGO for development Association Ayudar es Vivir.

Time
We will develop the Work Plan during all the year 2008. We will take the necessary actions to achieve the planned objectives.

Objectives
Every one of them is related with the necessities of people suffering from any disabilities in order to get a better quality of life, apart from the consequent insertion in the society.

Our goals:

Buy an important set of earphones to donate them during 2008 to people who suffer from hearing disabilities and lack economic resources.

Get wheel chairs to be donated among the elderly, adults, youngsters and kids of lower economic resources in the country

Commission the manufacturing of biomechanical prosthetics of different parts of the body from specialised workshops and donate them to people of different ages suffering from any disabilities that need them

Continue with the Revolving Funds Program to promote the setting up and boosting of micro enterprises managed by people suffering from any disabilities that allow them to make their living and help in their insertion in the social and economic sector of the country.

Strategy
In order to achieve these goals, we have planned to call on public and private institutions, consortiums, private and public enterprises, natural persons and corporate bodies, other NGOs, and international aid organizations in Peru as well as abroad.

Necessary resources
In order to reach our goals in 2008, we calculate we would need approximately USD $ 50 000.
